My second set of dreads <3 (Larg Pics)
I just finished these brown and green dreads today... and they took me forever O_O!! There are 35 of them. I'm not sure why it takes me so long to make dreads. Maybe it's because it takes me 5 steps to complete my dreads: Backcomb, steam, wrap, burn, and boil.
Anyway, here are some pics, enjoy and critique please =D.

Thanks guys =D
They are flexible. They were super stiff, but I boiled them ^-^, now they are soft.

Oh, I use my hair straightener to burn (or melt down) all the fuzzies off. I just think it looks nicer than cutting them off. Plus I slightly burn the ends of my braids to keep them from unraveling. Steaming the ends doesn't seem to hold. Is there a trick to getting the braids to stay secure?

i do the very ends of mine the same way, with a flat iron, and it seems they get a little crunch at the ends from it. been trying to find a different way also.... they look wonderful though great job!

Re: My second set of dreads <3 (Larg Pics)
If you find out another way to seal the ends, please tell me. If I find out, then I'll be sure to tell you. When I seal the ends of the braids, I start by turning my straightener to maximum heat. Then I grab the tip of the braid and snap the straightener shut in it for 3 seconds. That melts the tip into a hard, flat, square. I then cut this square into a rounded tip. It's the best I can do. I have heard that burning the tips is not good for selling =(.
Haha Thanks! I'm glad you think they are good enough for the show off section o^-^o!!

I seal the ends of my wrapped dreads by backcombing the last 3-4 inches really thoroughly and then twisting and steam sealing. Works beautifully for me and seems to hold just fine!

Cool, I'm going to try to seal my ends that way. What steamer do you use? Mine likes to spit boiling water all over me . It's an adventure I tell you.
Nope, they don't stuck together. They might if they were not wrapped though.
Thank you, I'm glad you like the colors ^-^!

do you burn then with a lighter i mean the tips or straightener???
i steam and use a straightener but i dont clamp it closed i leave it open and use one side kinda tilting it to just melt the ends together and they dont leave u with any flat squrish end .

I use the straightener to get rid of the fuzzies by lightly letting the fuzz touch the hot panel. Then the fuzzies melt and cling to the dread. I get the flat squares, but then I cut the squares into rounded ends... but that takes forever xD. I think I'm going to try your technique.

Re: My second set of dreads <3 (Larg Pics)
oh ok ..but by melting the extra hair with the straightener doesnt the dread get that coarse feeling???
yeah try it and if you dont get what i mean i can take pics and show you
tho sometimes it melts too much that it makes it to curly hard plastic tip xD lol
but you can just snip it off to where you think its rite , it will still leave with no squarish ends.

Awww!! Thanks so much Iddylove o^-^o. That's a wonderful thing to say!
@Dread Addiction: Actually they do get that woolly feeling (which I've always like lol), once the dread is wrapped you really can't tell anymore ^_^. But I'll take note that most people don't like woolly dreads .

They are really lovely. Excellent work and I love using a straighting iron on the ends too. Gotta love that crunchiness at the ends (I know some don't like it). Your dreadies have inspired me to try this style one time.
