First DE fluffy/natural/palmrolled dread!
Which I made into a SE (Thanks to the person who has a thread on making DE's SE's)
But anyhow!
I figured i'd try making a DE, seeing as I've never made one yet! Only a bunch of SE's :p
And well I was planning on making it a regular twisted and sealed dread, but then I decided to try palm rolling it!
I'm not sure if with the whole palm rolling method you're suppose to backcomb it before, but I did and I liked how it turned out :p I didn't even really palm roll it much.
ON TO PICTURES~
(Just ignore me )
And these haven't been sealed at all, but I think i'm gonna seal it a bit with my steamer once I get it
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, though.
Not sure if I wanna make a bunch of wear those, or wear my pink and black transitionals that I've been planning on making.
Cause these are a lot shorter than the ones I've been making and what I want D:
the color is actually MUCH brighter :3 I love it lol

You are off to a good start! I looveee natural/light fluffy dreads. Maybe you could make a small set of the solid pink dreads to wear along with your transitionals. It might look neat to just have solid pink along the bottom first couple layers of your hair, and the transitionals at the top layers. Just a thought! Anyway can't wait too see install pics.
Also I really like your BMTH shirt!

Myself I prefer to seal naturals by pouring boiling water over them and palm rolling them again. But if you want them to remain poofy this may not be the best method. I dont know so much about steaming them.

Re: First DE fluffy/natural/palmrolled dread!
Thanks! ^_^
wait, the fluffy dreads on the bottom than regular transitionals on the bottom?
Cause the transitionals I'm thinking about making are like... 4 feet long haha
and thanks! ^^ I've actually seen a lot of people with the same bmth shirt lately .-. Haha
:p I'll be sure to post pictures!
And well I kinda have issues with sealing with boiling water haha
I dunno why, but I find it odd and difficult .-.
but thanks!
I'm glad I've done good haha

I always seal with my steamer and it works great! They're not necessarily super poofy, though.

I agree, boiling water is what helped me most. This is almost same way I made the naturals that are in my avatar. I merely dipped them in the boiling water and held them there for a few seconds. But I didn't roll them afterwards, so I could get some volume. I think the key is to backcomb them for volume, make sure they're super duper knotty. Hope this helped a little! :OStilldawn wrote:Myself I prefer to seal naturals by pouring boiling water over them and palm rolling them again. Well, i'm not sure if I want em THAT poofy lol
and i'm also not sure if I can get myself to have shorter, single colour, natural dreads yet.
But i'm sure i'll just stick with the steamer :p [if it even works good D:]
If it doesn't... then I may try the boiling water .-. even tho I make a total mess and don't even seal em
But thanks! ^^

Re: First DE fluffy/natural/palmrolled dread!
Personally, I would say you need to work more on backcombing tighter and more evenly. And unless you want them to be huge, you need to use alot less hair than you would in a normal twist ! Your ends could do with more backcombing towards the ends too as they will just tangle up/unravel otherwise. You can straighten the ends or braid them so that they are sealed with a wiggle or you can twist the ends as you would a normal dread and steam them. Best way to seal naturals is with boiling water pured down the lengths
These were backcombed, palmrolled, sealed with boiling water, palmrolled whilst still warm, sealed with boiling water again and palmrolled again, then left to dry. Once dry, the ends were straightened on the LOWEST heat setting of straighteners then the ends were braided and sealed with hot water again then left to dry
Hope this helps you'll be on the right track in no time! xxx
